TV actress and presenter Ntando Duma, has become one of the country's most loved celebrities. The media personality was thrust into the spotlight with her TV presenting career and she did not look back

Her presenting gig was on kids TV programme Craz-e World live on eTV.The show turned her into a household name and one of Mzansi's most successful TV stars.

While she is also an actress, her acting skills have always been questioned on social media. Ntando is set to star in the upcoming iconic drama series Shaka Ilembe. The drama series is produced by MultiChoice and Bomb Productions and it has provided jobs to 8 000 people.

Ntando will take on the role of Queen Bhibhi KaSompisi Ntuli, the ninth wife of King Senzangakhona, Shaka's father. However she has faced criticism from black Twitter over her ability to act.

Duma has been receiving a lot of hate about whether or not she can carry out the role as effectively as is required. This is not the first time Mzansi questions her acting skills. Her acting skills on Rhythm City and The Queen disappointed viewers, and when she left The Queen, viewers celebrated. Ntando's inability to speak  Zulu fluently has also raised concerns about her suitability for Shaka Ilembe.

@Emkay_Afrika "I saw Ntando Duma is part of the new Shaka Zulu cast and I was like, ok it's gonna be shit...I'll pass."

@Ntombie_M502, "But her IsiZulu is not that sharp, she speaks Kasi Zulu."

@Thee_Winani Black said: “These days, it’s no longer about talent. However, it’s based on the number of followers one has on social media. Sad honestly.”

Shaka Ilembe is set to be released in 2023, but there is no official date for its premiere. The series features a star-studded cast that includes Nomzamo Mbatha, who plays Queen Nandi, the revered mother of Shaka. The actress will also make her producing debut. The River actor Thembinkosi Mthembu will play the character of King Dingiswayo and Wiseman Mncube plays King Zwide.

Multichoice is excited to bring the production to life. “Being able to bring this important story to the screen with such stellar talent speaks to the heart of MultiChoice’s ongoing commitment and investment in our local entertainment industry. We are committed to telling great African stories and this is a proudly African series told through the lens of Africans for the very first time,” said Yolisa Phahle, CEO of General Entertainment & Connected Video at MultiChoice.

Nomzamo said she is honoured to be part of this iconic project. “I am honoured to bring the giant that is Queen Nandi to life. History will remember those who informed its people of where we come from, to better understand who we are. I am fortunate to be part of a project that is much bigger than ourselves and to tell this story in our own language. Impi iyeza!” expressed Nomzamo Mbatha.
