Earlier today, we reported about how actress and presenter Ntando Duma tweeted and deleted information about an abortion that a family member of hers recently had.
She has since posted quite a long apology after being dragged for her earlier tweets.
In addition to apologizing to the people she offended, she did a lot of explaining and backtracking which was totally unnecessary.
"I would like to express my most sincere apology for the irresponsible manner in which I wrote the tweets and I admit that I could've written those tweets in a more diplomatic and positive fashion," wrote Ntando in the Instagram caption.
Translation: "I stand by what I said, I just feel like I could have said it better."
To that effect, she even revealed that she will be setting up a sexual health education initiative.
"I feel very strongly about this subject and still feel that it needs to be addressed urgently and because of the seriousness of this matter I have decided that I will establish a project or awareness campaign that'll aim at educating young people of South Africa (particularly in rural and township schools) about the repercussions of unprotected sex and how to deal with unwanted pregnancies or contraction of STI's," explained Duma.
You can read the rest of the apology and statement below.
We commend her for trying to do something about a matter she feels so strongly about, all we ask is that she tries to be less judgemental going forward.
It will be easier to reach the young people she so desperately wants to educate if they do not feel judged for their behaviour. No matter how much she may disagree with their life choices.
