This week, lovers of talk and music show Zaziwa woke up to the news that the financially embattled public broadcaster, SABC, is giving it the chop, but one person who had not been informed is Pearl Modiadie.
The radio presenter and host of the show - which saw a number of ZAlebs share nostalgic moments with fans in the form of an interview - revealed that she was in the dark about the show being cancelled. This comes after entertainment commentator and tv host Phil Mphela broke the news to his fans on Twitter.
What followed was a response by heartbroken Pearl Modiadie who revealed that she had no clue that the show would not be renewed.
"It’s heartbreaking to find out on social media," she said.
Reasons for cancelling the show are linked to ratings, but it appears the producers had no control over the dip. "The show performed well ratings wise — peaking at 4.2-million viewers over its run. But it was sabotaged when the channel meddled & kept moving the show’s time slot around." - this according to Phil Mphela.
This is not the first time that an SABC show is cancelled while the employees find out on social media. Last week, Motlatsi Mofatshe who plays the character of Sechaba on Isidingo revealed on The Morning Flava on Metro FM that himself and some of his colleagues only found out about the SABC 3 sudser's axing on social media.
