Phat Joe's on and off appearance on Radio 2000 has left many speculating on whether the presenter is still with the show or not. Especially following his suspension for allegedly bunking work.
Fans even took to social media over concerns of his absenteeism from radio and his silence over the whole situation. It came as no surprise looking at his history of getting suspended from radio numerous times.
When the #PhatJoeAndTheFamily presenter came back on-air, it was for a brief moment, as the SABC has announced his resignation. His resignation came after just spending less than a year with the station, since April 2019.
SABC spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo reported to Daily Sun that the Phat Joe was “on special leave”, now the station has issued a statement addressing his exit and wished him well.
"The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s (SABC) radio station, Radio 2000, would like to announce the resignation of its breakfast show host, Mr Majota ‘Phat Joe’ Khambule. Phat Joe joined the breakfast show ‘Phat Joe and the family’ in April 2019.
The station would like to wish Phat Joe well on his future endeavors and thank him for his contribution to the station. Radio 2000 will in due course announce the changes to its line-up and will keep its listeners abreast of any further developments," the statement wrote.
Phat Joe has been in hot water with the national broadcaster several times. Neither parties have spoken out about the suspension and fans await for Joe's response.
