Scoop Loses International Deal

That hacker really messed things up...

Scoop Makhathini was one of last week's biggest talking topics after his social media account did what can only be described as "wylin'" on Tuesday night. We say his social media account and not him because the presenter claimed to have been hacked.

A quick summary in case you missed it: Scoop raised eyebrows when his Twitter account (again, not him -- specifically his Twitter account) started attacking his girlfriend, Akhona and accusing her of cheating. Akhona responded with her own shade a day later, but not before Scoop could offer an explanation as to what had happened.

The new Yo! MTV Raps presenter came out that very same evening and claimed that he had been hacked, much like other celebrities have been including Kwesta and Cassper Nyovest. While others have lost followers after being hacked, Scoop lost something bigger: a potential international deal.

After realising the drama that his alleged hacker had caused, Scoop tried to clear the air on his YFM radio show with Bontle Modiselle. He said:

"It was my birthday, so I was receiving a lot of calls from friends, but I decided to ignore them, because I'm not a person who likes birthday wishes. My phone was lying around and I wasn't using it, because there wasn't Wi-Fi in the recording studio I was in with friend Ayanda. I immediately went on Twitter to check out what was happening and that's when I realised my account was hacked"

He then revealed how his would-be deal fell through after the entire saga:

"They called me to let me know that they can't proceed with  doing business with me, because of what was happening on my social media, so they cancelled the contract,"

Do you think that Scoop Makhathini was the victim of hectic cybercrime, or is this a tactic to backtrack and save face after an embarrassing rant?

Celebs are getting hacked left, right and center these days!
