It is no secret that the pandemic of coronavirus has left many unemployed and destitute, due to job losses and reduced salaries hence tenants are unable to fulfil their rental agreements.
Weighing in his opinion on this heated debate Sizwe said the “no eviction of tenants” is really important. He went to say that tenants must stand on their grounds also and refuse eviction.
The topic caused a stir as some landlords slammed him and said they also rely on rentals for survival, responding to a tweep who asked him how are landlord supposed to survive, Sizwe asked him what are the tenants eating.
Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma recently addressed the nation that the government will continue to prohibit the eviction of tenants, but a court may grant an eviction order provided that it is just and equitable.
