Season two of Dinner At Somizi's will be delayed because Hastings Moeng is not backing down without a fight. Somizi Mhlongo, the face of the cooking show, faced theft accusations by Hastings Moeng who claimed that the concept of Dinner Kwa Somizi's was his brainchild, and that Somizi had stolen it.

Despite Somizi addressing the issue on his Instagram Live with Pearl Thusi and on national television, the matter has not been resolved and Hastings demands what is due to him.

According to Sowetan Live, there are talks between Somizi, the producer of the show Legend Manqele and Hastings to settle the legalities surrounding the intellectual property of the show. With no progress being made, Hastings and his lawyers have served Somgaga, Legend and MultiChoice with letters of demands.

Hastings Moeng demanded some acknowledgement for his contribution to the show and a share however after no agreements being reached, and Somgaga being MIA (Missing In Action), he has decided to lawyer up.

Further more, Hastings wants to know how much money Somizi made for the first season of the show which had just ended.

The publication claims to have seen the seven-page letter which reads in part,

“Your client, MultiChoice, is requested to disclose, in good faith, if any agreements concluded pertaining to the cooking-talk show or is aiming to enter into any agreement thereof, and if our client will be included.

“MultiChoice is further requested, in good faith, to disclose the agreement entered into between the channel, Somizi and Legend, including the amount that had been paid to Somizi and Legend pertaining to season one,” the publication wrote.

In a separate letter sent to Somgaga, it addresses the interview he had done on a news channel, “It goes without saying that, if indeed these observations prove correct, it may corroborate claims by the members of the public that Somizi and Legend deliberately and intentionally ‘stole’ our client’s cooking-talk show concept for their own selfish and pecuniary gain.”

Somgaga did not dispute the fact that he was approached by Hastings to do the show, adding that he was approached verbally by Hastings and that the e-mail that was sent was never opened. He further went to add that it is an old e-mail address and that he does not personally open his e-mails, adding that his PA, road manager, manager and his agency open them.

“I only spoke to him once. I think it was in 2013, not 2014. He told me he wants us to do a cooking show (called) "Dinner with Somizi," or something like that. But I have never seen any documents.”
