South African media personality, Somizi Mhlongo, was scheduled to finally break his silence on the controversy surrounding his cooking show, Dinner At Somizi’sin an Instagram video that was said to take place at 19:00. Followers of the self-proclaimed chef waited in anticipation, but it appears as though Somizi was a no-show.

In a since-deleted video shared on Instagram today, 17 September 2020, the media personality stated, “See you guys at 7pm tonight, we're going live, I’m going live. Any questions you want to ask me, I’ll be there to answer. Decisively, apparently, concurrently and allegedly, I will answer okay. I will see you at 7 o’clock, we will be talking the latest story, Dinner At Somizi’s and many more. So whatever you want to ask me I’ll gladly, gladly, gladly answer you. That’s the beauty about this platform, you can hear three sides of the story,”

Along with failing to start his Instagram live on time, Somizi also deleted the video which informed his followers about the topics he wished to discuss. However, the video which shaded the accusations made against him, which he posted a day prior, remain on his page. The video showed himself treating his face by wearing a face mask and singing along to Kelly Khumalo's hit single Empini.

In the lyrics Kelly addresses haters who do not want to see others succeed. Somizi started off his video at the very moment where it seems as though he is directing the message at the accusations.
A part of the lyrics said “Don’t you know that people do not want to see others succeed? They get surprised, they hurt you whilst staring at you right in the eyes…”.

Somizi is currently facing accusations that his cooking show, Dinner At Somizi’s, was stolen from Hastings Moeng, who had proposed the content for the show in 2014. The apparent show created is demanding credit be given to him, seeing as though the series has become a great success since its premiere in July 2020.
