Former Kaizer Chiefs star Tefu Mashamaite has come away from a car accident unscathed.

According to a report from Sunday World, Mashamaite crashed his car while back in South Africa on holiday in December. The 31-year-old currently plays for Swedish side BK H├Ącken.

The incident took place in Ivory Park, near Tembisa. Mashamaite allegedly drove into the fence of a library, with his car being brought to a halt by a carport.

"We had just had our Christmas party on the day when I got a call about the incident. He must have been driving at a high speed because the library's fence is far away from the street," an employee of the library told Sunday World. "He was lucky to make it out alive. None of the occupants in the car was injured either. God was by their side."

Mashamaite moved to Sweden in 2015 after spells at Amakhosi and Bidvest Wits. The defender has played for Bafana Bafana in the past, but has always struggled to maintain his place in the side.
