According to studies conducted by Victoria University, the rate of attempted suicide in the entertainment industry is more than double the rest of the population because of the pressures of the industry. Recently, here in South Africa, we have seen more and more celebrities opening up about their struggles. Our love and support goes out to each and every one of them,

Sadly, part of this increase occurred as HHP’s passing opened up the conversation all the more because he had been vocal about going through it throughout his career.

Family tree member, rapper Tshego has struggled with depression on more than one occasion in his career - noting how Riky Rick helped him previously but now again he seems to be facing many of the same issues.

He has been sharing on Twitter why he has not frequently been posting.

Take a look at the tweets below:
Rapper Gigi Lamayne is another artist that recently penned down her reasons for attempting to commit suicide after battling with depression. The rapper took to her Twitter timeline writing:
“I recently tried to take my life. It was because of a buildup of things in my life, from society pressures to me questioning my existence. I felt like life was a lot. The cyberbullying is something I thought wasn’t getting to me because I’d read things and it wouldn’t get to me but I guess it went in subconsciously.
Gigi says she started questioning her existence because she didn’t understand why life was unfair. “I did everything by the book, I excelled at school, I didn’t get pregnant, I then excelled in university but things aren’t working for me. I seem strong but because of my past and conditioning, I’m easily bullied. I continue to get bullied and controlled because that’s all I know.” she said.

We are sending our love to all our ZAlebs family who are facing their struggles and sending love especially to those who are confronting it publicly.
