It's been a long time since Season 2 of Idols SA but we're still on Zamajobe, the singer whose singing career was birthed out of that show.
Idols winners never actually steal our hearts. It usually ends up being the ones who were so close to the prize but never got it (think Shekhinah). I mean here's a test: name a SINGLE winner of Idols from Season 1 to now. See? But shout-outs to Khaya Mthethwa though..that Move joint is still banging.
This leads us back to our subject Zamajobe Sithole. The darling since she jumped onto the scene with her debut album Ndawo Yami with the hits Magic and Ndawo Yami. She got herself a fair following thanks to that album. So fair, infact, that she released her second album Ndoni Yamanzi. Though it didn't have memorable hits like the one before, it still got her fans.
After that, there was a long silence. People started speculating that she got swallowed by the big bad media machine. BUT nope. She was readying her next project: Thula Mntwana. She had found a creative partner in Erik Paliani who had a hand in making all 3 of her albums. After that though there were rumours going around that she was taking drugs after a laughing incident on stage.
Not one to be touched by bad news though she kept her head down and eventually released her single Sobabili last year with Michael Phillips. In the midst of all these things she's been doing interviews and seems to be on the up because of her being independent. So, when's the album coming out? No idea but we're thinking we'll get a dose of her magic before the year ends. I mean, we're not the only ones missing her:
