If you've never heard the name Maria McCloy, you haven't been paying attention. Actually, let's just be blunt about this: you've been sleeping for almost two decades now. Last week Woolworths unveiled a capsule collection of proudly South African design, and Maria is one of the designers whose wares go in store next week. Damn, the swag is real!

Are you dealing?

In case you don't know who Maria is. She's only one third of the Rage Productions trio that introduced most of us to one Siyabonga "Scoop" Ngwekazi through the TV show "Street Journal", among other significant cultural contributions over the last almost two decades. While Rage Productions does not exist anymore, one would be hard pressed to find a young, black-owned media business of its kind these days. They were pioneers, but these days, Maria McCloy has extended her reach to the fashion world and what she started a few years ago as small business selling accessories and vintage clothing has now grown into a fashion collaboration with a major retailer. It's admirable and quite imppressive!

Still, Maria is no stranger to collabs. Most recently, Mafikizolo's Nhlanhla Nciza asked Maria to make handbags for her NN Vintage label. Look at the fabulous result...

We haven't seen that shoe line in its entirety yet, but we're willing to bet it will rock everybody's socks off!

Just remember to put them on when you wear the shoes, k?
