It all started when Tlhabi tweeted about a famous designer who called her “fatty-boom-boom” to describe how Tlhabi would look in his clothes. Though the actress was hesitant to reveal the designers name to avoid jeorpadising the deal and the TV  show, she tweeted series of tweets that revealed the duo, Quiteria and George.

"So today I went to a famous designer who was told my sizes way beforehand because it’s for TV. Does he not then declare very loudly in the store after a failed try-on that he has nothing for me and the uses words like “fatty boom boom” to describe how I’d look in the designs. Yoh.”

"Actually nah. It’s Quiteria and George. What happens from there is above me. It was shit shit shit. If I lose this opportunity, I lose it. I will never ever wear something from there. And it was “Q” himself."

Another media personality that supported her statement was former Big Brother contestant, Lexi Van who also stated that she went through a similar experience with the fashion designers.

"I'm not surprised Lesego. I was told I'm fat too in 2015 whilst doing a fitting with them. The way Q pulled his face when I tried on a dress was pure disgust. He said my body needed 'some major work' cause there isn't really a dress for me. Sorry babe."

Tlhabi also mentioned how emotional and sad she felt and how she couldn’t stop crying because she was fat-shamed in front of everyone.

"I never cry but wow I have not stopped. I’m sad sis. I’m so sorry that happened to you too."

Radio host, Sizwe Dlhlomo comforted her by tweeting:
"Sorry man. You’re not going to lose anything. Don’t worry."

Tlhabi replied:
"I honestly don’t know because they’re sponsoring a whole scene in a show I’m filming but thank you."

ZAlebs previously reported that the satirist, Lesego Tlhabi who is populary known as Coconut Kelz recently scored an acting gig in a new Showmax original series titled “Tali’s Baby Diary” which scooped several SAFTA awards for its first season’s “Tali’s Wedding Diary” show which aired in 2017.

Tlhabi who created the character, Coconut Kelz will be appearing in the new season of Showmax original series ‘Tali’s Baby Diary’ in a few days.

She also announced that she’s shooting with Adidas x Ivy Park today in a follow up tweet which read:

“Yoh that time I’m shooting with Adidas fucking Ivy Park tomorrow so puffy eyes must die. At some point I’ll stop being the most sad hun in Jozi, tears will cease and I will remember who the fuck I am! Thank you family so puffy eyes must die. At some point I’ll stop being the most sad hun in Jozi, tears will cease and I will remember who the fuck I am! Thank you family.”

The fashion designers have now responded to Tlhabi’s claims and denied fat-shaming her in a series of Instagram stories and even stated in one of their stories that “Fat is not a bad word.... I wish I called her fat directly."
