From big statement chokers, to the beaded, luxurious variety, others made of fabric and some made of string – there is no doubt that the choker trend has remained strong for at least two years now, but is there an end in sight for this revived 90s trend?
New presenter for eTV’s 808 music show Bontle Modeselle and Minnie Dlamini both posted to Instagram images where they are wearing the thick, gold variety.
It’s an unmistakable statement piece, but going forward are chokers set to go the statement route, or will they disappear altogether owing to the waning of the 90s revivalist trend throughout fashion? It’s highly unlikely, considering retailers and designers are still producing them galore. Granted, many will opt more for polonecks to keep the cold away as winter entrenches itself, but rest assured, the choker trend is here to stay, at least for a little longer. It’s most likely that they will take a more minimalist twist as you may have seen with people styling smaller, delicate chokers in layers of two or three in one go. Surely you’ve also seen others wearing what resembles a shoe lace around their necks?Â

Chokers are here to stay. At least for now, that is!
