Tanzanian-born designer Anisa Mpungwe recently opened her first Loin Cloth and Ashes store in the Maboneng Precinct, situated in the heart of Joburg’s new urban development.

Anisa, who is the creative design genius designer behind Loin Cloth and Ashes, was overjoyed. “It has been an interesting journey and I am glad that I finally have my own shop where people can come and get my clothes,” she said through teary eyes.

Radio personality Anele Mdoda, who has become the official ambassador and face of the brand, was ecstatic about the new flagship store.

“I am glad Anisa has opened this store – I’m so proud of her. I have been wearing her clothes for many years now. She’s really come full circle with the launch of this store,” Anele said.

Many zalebs came out to official store opening show their support and love for LCA.

“Anisa makes great clothes that are African and feminine,” said All Access Mzansi presenter Bridget Masinga.
