Since her debut on the show, she has managed to branch out into more serious roles - from comedy to drama, she has proven that she can do just about anything.
The SAFTA winning actress currently plays the role of Beauty on Mzansi Magic's Isibaya and we got the chance to sit down with her and unpack the many layers of her most recent character.
Speaking about the similarities she has with Beauty, she said: "Beauty is a code switcher, meaning that she can adapt to any situation, if you put me in a boardroom with Business execs, I will adapt, when I am at my son's school with soccer moms, I adapt, when I am in the hood, I can also adapt the same way I adapt when I am in the suburbs."
Thuli then went on to explain that Beauty is not just your typical taxi wife, she is a lawyer who was taken to school by her husband to help him with his business.
"Beauty is a boss, and she will do anything for her family, don't let the nails and makeup fool you, she is an educated woman and I am honoured to bring her to life."
On the challenges Beauty has faced, Thuli said: "We have seen Beauty at her worst and her best, we have seen her with and without makeup, we all witnessed her fall from Grace and that is what I love most about her, she is relatable, and she shows that there are many arches in a person's life."
When Thuli is not playing Beauty, she is a mom to her son, Ruri and she and her ex Tbo Touch are a perfect example of healthy co-parenting. The exes have a healthy relationship and it is inspiring to witness especially in our community were many exes can not stand one another. Over the past few years, they have been the perfect example of consciously uncoupling and they sometimes give us glimpses into their lives.
You can catch Thuli on Isibaya every weeknight at 20:30 on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161.
