Moment of silence for Twitter
In a world where Twitter is the best way to get out of an awkward situation or boring situation, what did people do for the 2 hour that Twitter went down? YES twitter was down on Thursday, but luckily only for a short while. The site didn’t even display its famous ‘Fail Whale’ but simply just timed out. Turns out there was just a bug affecting the website and nothing too serious. We sure are glad that it started working 2 hours later, so that we could get back to checking up on our favourite zalebs again.
Howza says howzit to SABC1 show
SABC1’s All You Need Is Love fans were relieved to see a much more familiar face gracing their screens as the new host for the show on Tuesday 19th June. Howza Mosese has replaced Sisanda Henna as the residential presenter of the show. Feedback after the first episode of the show is apparently the main reason for letting Sisanda go. We hope that Howza will bring a much needed new flavour to the show.
Spotlight on sport
There’s been a lot of action in the sport section these last few days. SA Comrades winner for 2012 Ludwick Mamabolo reportedly tested positive for a banned stimulant, methylhexaneamine. He’s denied any allegations of doping and an investigation is still under way. We hope he’s in the clear! Ludwick was the first South African to have won the comrades since 2005.
And Bafana Bafana captain Steven Pienaar has been caught on the wrong side of the law again. He’s been accused of assaulting Thabang Mnisi, the son of the deputy minister of public service and administration, Ayanda Dlodlo. Pienaar and his friends allegedly confronted Mnisi in his way to the toilet in the VIP section of Icon nightclub in Sandton last Sunday before the fight broke out.
Johnny leaves Paradis
In some international news , Johnny Depp is now single and ready – well we hope – to mingle. Johnny and his girlfriend of 14 years, Vanessa Paradis called it quits on their relationship this past week. Rumours have been doing the rounds about links to his The Rum Diary co-star Amber Heard. The breakup is said to have been amicable – we certainly hope it stays that way for the sake of the kids!
