The 2020 Radio Awards are set to be streamed online and funnyman Loyiso Madinga is set to host the awards.

The coronavirus outbreak in South Africa and the rest of the world has unfortunately changed the way things are done in the world as social-distancing has become the new norm.

Numerous shows and awards have had to be canceled or postponed or have had to find new ways to do things such as online broadcasting.

Organizers of the radio awards, Arena Events have had to change the format of the awards from previous years, where winners were celebrated at a gala dinner amongst their peers.

This year, the Awards will be ‘presented’ in a digitised, streaming format – allowing the radio industry and the listening audiences to join the excitement online and share their congratulations on social media.

“We are unbelievably grateful for the support The Radio Awards has received from the industry, listeners, and members of the NAB,” says Taryn Westoby, Head of Arena Events.

“We feel it’s incredibly important to recognize the hard work and diligence that stations have shown in submitting high-quality entries. It’s clear that the Awards are prized and highly-valued, and it’s why we’ve been working non-stop (and remote from our team members too) to deliver the best online awards show possible – especially during these very difficult times for our country,” added Westboy.

Loyiso will be hosting the awards from his home on April 17, 2020, at 2 pm.
