To coincide with the South African DVD release of the Hollywood blockbuster, The LEGO Movie, five special figurines have been created for some of SA's hottest celebrities to celebrate Mandela Day.

The five celebrities who have been honoured with their very own limited edition Lego® figurine are: TV presenter and self-dubbed Queen of Media Bonang Matheba, 5fm's DJ Fresh, media personality Gareth Cliff, radio and TV presenter Lee-Roy Wright as well as YouTube sensation, Casper Lee.

These limited Lego® figurines were custom-made to celebrate the DVD release of  The LEGO Movie in SA - after the movie was a success at the box office around the world earlier this year – and to honour some of SA's most influential celebrities on social media.

A one of a kind Lego® Mini-figure collection made up of 3 Nelson Mandela Lego® Mini-Figures at 3 unique moments during his life is set to go on auction today on www.bidorbuy.co.za. The winner will be the person who bids the highest rand value during the duration of the auction. The money from the auction will be donated towards setting up Lego Educational and Play areas for the Nelson Mandela Day Library Initiative. The auction winner will also receive The LEGO Movie Blu-Ray™ and DVD combo pack.

Directed by Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs21 Jump Street), The LEGO Movie is the hilarious story of a nobody who saves everybody and stars Chris Pratt as the voice of Emmet - an ordinary LEGO minifigure, who is mistakenly identified as The Special, the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously under prepared.

To celebrate the launch of the DVD, a whole week of Lego® activities took place at the newly developed Cradlestone Mall in Gauteng earlier this month, which kept kids entertained during the school holidays. The week opened with the construction of a giant South African flag, which was built by the Gauteng LEGO Users Group (Gauteng). It took over 3 days to complete and over 60 000 pieces of Lego® to build!

The LEGO Movie is currently available on DVD, Blu-Ray 3D, Blu-Ray and DVD combo pack starting at R149.99 (recommended retail price) at all leading retailers nationwide, this includes the film in high definition on Blu-Ray Disc and a DVD.
