Spanish football publication Fichajes reports that manager Diego Simeone has given the go-ahead for the club to search for a transfer solution, pointing to the player’s struggle to settle into Atlético’s strict defensive structure and tactical expectations. Atlético sources also claim the hierarchy have set a price of €60 million on the 28-year-old attacker, with the figure intended to help the club recover funds as it plans a wider reshaping of its squad.
Lookman joined La Liga after a standout spell in Italy, where he delivered a major moment by scoring a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final for Atalanta. Despite that high-profile impact, Atlético say his form has been uneven and his opportunities have been limited, with fewer starts than expected—factors that have led the club to redirect resources ahead of the coming campaign.
