Basketball promoter and creator of the Mark D’Ball programme, Igoche Mark, is mourning the death of his mother, Mrs. Oyiba Veronica Mark.

A family statement said Mrs. Mark passed away peacefully on Monday, 29 June 2026.

“With deep sorrow but total submission to the will of Almighty God, the family of Mrs. Oyiba Veronica Mark announces the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend,” the statement read.

The statement also described the late matriarch as a woman of faith, love, strength, and compassion, adding that her life had touched countless people.

It further said, “Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to her family and community will remain a lasting legacy. Though her departure leaves a great void in our hearts, we are comforted by the beautiful memories she leaves behind and by the assurance that she now rests in eternal peace.”

Igoche Mark is widely recognised for Mark D’Ball, a basketball initiative that has grown into an important platform for developing young talent across Nigeria.
