Benin, Ghana, Nigeria and Others Set for 2026 Lagos Dynamic Athletics Meet

Sports

Track and field athletes from Benin, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria are set to take part in the 2026 Dynamic Athletics Meet in mid-August, with the event scheduled for the Yabatech Sports Complex in Lagos.

Meet founder Olabanji Ayegbusi said the World Athletics-listed competition has already drawn confirmed interest from competitors across the five countries. He noted that the official timetable for the championship and the full registration process have not yet been published.

Ayegbusi appealed for stronger technical and financial backing from stakeholders ahead of the meet, urging the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and the National Sports Commission to support the initiative as it builds momentum toward the start of the competition.

He added that the event continues to serve as a key platform for expanding opportunities for athletes, while also supporting the development of both experienced performers and up-and-coming talents.

“The Dynamic Athletics Meet belongs to everyone in the athletics family — athletes, coaches, former athletes, media practitioners, board members, technical officials and track and field philanthropists. We all have a role to play in making it bigger and better,” Ayegbusi said.
