Abdullahi Bewene has hailed his Super Eagles debut as among the proudest days of his career after helping Nigeria earn a 2-2 draw with Poland in Warsaw.
The Banik Ostrava defender secured his first senior appearance following a late addition to Eric Chelle’s squad, and he made an immediate impact with a calm, assured showing.
“I’m very happy and proud to represent my country. I’m ready to give more of this,” the 21-year-old said. “When I’m on the pitch, I’m ready to give my all. I just forget everything.”
Bewene also explained that his motivation is to make Nigerians proud every time he steps out in the national team jersey.
“There are plenty of people in my country. I have to make them happy. I have to make myself happy,” he added.
His composed performance stood out for Nigeria on a night when the Super Eagles let a two-goal advantage slip before ultimately sharing the points with the hosts.
