Big Bull Rice Ends “Fuel-the-Pitch” Drive as Global Football Season Wraps Up

Tropical General Investments (TGI) Group, makers of Big Bull Rice, has wrapped up its “Fuel-the-Pitch” consumer engagement drive as the 2025/2026 global football season reaches its end.

The programme was created to weave the rice brand into Nigeria’s football-watching culture, reaching fans across key viewing locations—from commercial watch hubs in Surulere, Lagos—while also extending into private homes in Abuja.

Using digital channels and interactive live programming, the campaign featured in-the-moment match talk, opportunities for supporters to take part in score predictions, and spaces for discussion after the final whistle. TGI said the activation transformed football followers who would normally remain passive into a more active online community, allowing fans to exchange analysis, jokes, and commentary as games unfolded.

Company view on the campaign

TGI Group Chief Marketing Officer Probal Bhattacharya said the company’s push into sports was meant to cultivate shared ties with supporters rather than operate in a purely commercial, transactional manner.

“Across Nigeria, we have been intentional about our presence in the football space — not to disrupt the fan experience, but to become a meaningful part of it,” Bhattacharya said. “By building platforms for predictions and real-time banter, we have seen fans move from being spectators to taking true ownership of the game.”

Bhattacharya also pointed to the way food and sport overlap in Nigerian culture as forces that bring people together, adding that TGI remains focused on providing premium-milled, stone-free parboiled rice to support gatherings nationwide.
