Brentford have moved to secure the long-term future of Nigerian full-back Michael Kayode, agreeing a new contract that ties the 21-year-old to the Gtech Community Stadium until June 2032, with the club also holding an option to extend the deal by a further year.
The fresh agreement arrives just 12 months after Brentford completed Kayode’s permanent switch from Serie A side Fiorentina for a reported fee of €18 million. The move followed an encouraging loan stint in the second half of the 2024/25 season, during which he impressed enough to earn a full-time contract.
Since making the step to English football, Kayode has quickly become one of Brentford’s most eye-catching performers. In his first complete campaign, he featured 44 times across all competitions, contributing a goal and two assists. His high-energy approach and steady defensive displays also saw him put forward for the Premier League Young Player of the Season award.
Kayode said he was delighted to commit his future to the club after putting pen to paper on the new deal.
“I feel like this club is a family, so I wanted to continue my journey here. I have amazing relationships here, and every day I enjoy coming in to train with my teammates and the staff.
“Ever since I joined the club, everything has been amazing. It feels like I’ve been playing for Brentford for 10 years. I’ve improved a lot both on and off the pitch, and that’s really important for me.”
