The Nigerian naira strengthened further versus the US dollar on Tuesday in the official foreign-exchange market. Figures from the Central Bank of Nigeria showed the currency rose to 1,361.05 naira per dollar on Tuesday, compared with 1,366.79 naira per dollar on Monday. On a day-to-day basis, that represents an appreciation of 5.74 naira at the official window.

In the parallel market, however, the naira did not move: it stayed at 1,395 naira per dollar on Tuesday, matching the rate seen on Monday. The uptick in the official exchange rate coincided with an increase in Nigeria’s foreign reserves, which climbed to 49.80 billion US dollars as of June 1, 2026. The latest improvement follows Monday’s gain for the naira against the dollar.
