NFF Releases President Federation Cup Round of 64 Fixtures for Men and Women

Sports

Fixtures for the men’s and women’s editions of this year’s President Federation Cup national competition have been unveiled after the draw ceremony held at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja on the day of the ceremony.

Draw ceremony and competition format

At the event, NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi said the draw process followed the same approach used in previous editions. He also highlighted that the tournament framework will be simpler than in earlier years, pointing out that no team will receive a bye into the next round.

Dr. Sanusi further reassured teams, match officials, and other football stakeholders that the country’s oldest and most established football competition will be conducted on equal terms for all participants. He added that all guidelines meant to ensure the tournament runs smoothly and transparently will be strictly observed.

Seedings and knockout structure

  • Defending champions Kwara United were assigned the top seed at number one.
  • Last season’s runners-up, Abakaliki FC, were placed as the seed at number 64.

As in keeping with tradition, the tournament will be played strictly on a knockout basis.

Venue for the final

Dr. Sanusi confirmed that Asaba, the capital city of Delta State, will host the grand finale of this year’s President Federation Cup competition.
