Nigeria Wins Three Gold as Taekwondo Medal Haul Hits Seven in Bamako

Nigeria has built a haul of seven medals—three gold, one silver and three bronze—at the 2026 African Taekwondo Championships in Bamako, Mali. The tournament is a World Taekwondo-approved G-4 event.

Aderibigbe Faridah led the gold charge by winning the Freestyle Poomsae title, before teaming up with Salawudeen Abdulafeez to secure silver in the Pair Poomsae category. Haruna Usman added another gold in the Men’s Poomsae Under-40 division, while Para-Taekwondo competitor Mathew Udom won top honours in the -57kg Kyorugi weight class.

Nigeria’s bronze medals were earned by Joel Jordan in the +87kg Kyorugi division, Chidinma Okoko in the -62kg Kyorugi category, and Abdulafeez in Poomsae Under-30.
