Onyema FC and Elite FC have both booked their spots in the final of the 2026 Imo State Football Association League after staging tense, penalty-decided semi-final wins.
In the first semi-final, Onyema FC narrowly overcame Hawks FC, prevailing 8-7 in the shootout after a 1-1 draw during normal time. The penalty success confirmed their progression to the championship match.
Elite FC, meanwhile, also required a penalty shootout to advance. After being held to a goalless stalemate by Akabo United, Elite FC showed greater nerve in the decisive moments, winning 3-2 to secure their place in the final.
With their final appearances secured, Onyema FC and Elite FC have already qualified to represent Imo State at the Nigeria Nationwide League Division Two (NLO Division Two) playoffs. However, they will now meet each other to decide the 2026 Imo FA League champions.
