The moment behind the award
Onuachu’s winning strike arrived on September 27, 2025, during Trabzonspor’s 4-2 triumph over Fatih Karagümrük. The 2.01-metre forward collected a ball played in by Wagner Pina and powered a mid-air bicycle kick that left Karagümrük goalkeeper Ivo Grbić unable to respond.
The impressive finish had already earned recognition earlier in the season, having been selected as the Süper Lig Goal of the Month for September.
In an official statement, the Trendyol Süper Lig underlined the fan-driven nature of the decision: “You chose, he won.” The league added that the most beautiful goal of the 2025/26 season had been determined as Paul Onuachu.
A decorated debut in Turkey
The award completes a standout first season in Turkish football for the Nigerian international, who arrived from English club Southampton. Domestically, Onuachu finished as the league’s joint-top scorer with 22 goals, sharing the Golden Boot with İstanbul Başakşehir’s Eldor Shomurodov.
Looking beyond the league, he contributed 26 goals and two assists across 43 appearances for Trabzonspor, nicknamed the “Black Sea Storm.” One of his defining performances came on May 22, when he scored both goals in a 2-1 win over Konyaspor to help deliver the club’s 10th Turkish Cup title.
