Residents and businesses in parts of Ondo State are set to experience a power interruption after the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced a planned shutdown affecting its Ondo 132/33 kilovolt transmission substation. The disruption is scheduled to run for one day and will impact electricity supply in Okitipupa and Ondo Town.
- TCN said the outage will take place on Tuesday, with operations at the Ondo 132/33 kV substation expected to be offline from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- The company said customers in Okitipupa and Ondo Town will be among those affected by the interruption.
- TCN explained the downtime is needed to allow maintenance crews to relocate the Ife–Ondo 132kV transmission line equipment from the proposed Omotosho–Ondo 132kV transmission line bay to the Ife–Ondo 132kV line bay.
- TCN added that, during the same window, work will also include commissioning a newly installed 60 megavolt-ampere (MVA) 132/33 transformer at the substation.
- TCN further stated that the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) will be unable to draw and deliver power to its customers in Okitipupa and Ondo Town for 10 hours on Wednesday, June 30, 2026.
