PSG Survive Arsenal Penalties to Retain Champions League Title

Sports

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain edged Arsenal 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a tense knockout-style match finished 1-1 after extra time.

Arsenal struck first in the opening half through Kai Havertz, with a composed, well-executed finish that put the Gunners ahead and gave them a platform as the teams headed into the break.

PSG answered soon after the restart as Ousmane Dembélé stepped up from the penalty spot, calmly converting to restore parity and shift momentum back toward the French champions.

With both sides trading spells of pressure, the contest remained deadlocked through the remainder of regular time and then through the additional 30 minutes of extra time, leaving no breakthrough and setting up a shootout.

From 12 yards, PSG showed greater composure, scoring four times as Arsenal netted twice, sealing a dramatic victory and delivering a memorable end to a closely fought encounter.
