The quarter-final field for the 2026 Women’s President Federation Cup has been set after Wednesday’s Round of 16, where teams across the country delivered commanding wins and several players stood out with standout individual displays.
Record champions Rivers Angels advanced to the last eight with a 3-1 triumph over Abia Angels. FC Robo Queens also booked their place after a dramatic 5-3 win against South-West rivals Remo Stars Ladies, a result that proved to be one of the most entertaining contests of the round.
For Robo Queens, Kemi Adegbuyi put the team ahead just as the first half was ending. Opeyemi Ajakaye then struck twice, helping to swing the momentum further in their favour. Esther Onyenezide added to the scoring as the Lagos side ultimately outscored their opponents in a lively local derby.
Heartland Queens were even more emphatic in the Oriental Derby against Ahudiyannem Queens, cruising to a 4-0 victory. Umejiaku Oluebube was the star performer, completing a hat-trick with goals in the 38th, 44th and 60th minutes, while Monica Mathew sealed the win with a penalty in the 73rd minute.
Ibom Angels secured their quarter-final spot in a tense finish against Bayelsa Queens. After the match ended 1-1, they prevailed 5-4 from the penalty spot.
Sunshine Queens kept their momentum going with a 2-0 win over Plateau United Queens, while Confluence Queens produced the biggest result of the Round of 16 by smashing Esthington FC 8-0.
In the South-South derby, Edo Queens put in a dominant display against Delta Queens, winning 4-0. Adeshina Tumininu scored a hat-trick, and Kafayat Mafisere added the fourth goal to confirm a comfortable passage to the next stage.
Nasarawa Amazons also progressed after a penalty shootout against Naija Ratels. Adaobi Okah gave the Amazons the lead with a strike in the 27th minute, but Naija Ratels responded to level the game and force the shootout, where they were eventually unable to stop Amazons from advancing.
