St. Saviour’s School in Ikoyi and Grange School took the top honours at the 9th Zenith Bank Inter-School Swimming Gala on Saturday, as more than 200 swimmers from Lagos primary and secondary schools battled for places at the Swimming Section of Ikoyi Club 1938.

Primary school category: St. Saviour’s School claimed first place with 260.5 points, finishing ahead of Grange School on 173.5 and Riverbank School on 145.5. Children International School and Corona Schools completed the top five, scoring 126 and 119.5 points respectively.
Secondary school category: Grange School led the way in the secondary ranks with a total of 271.5 points. Children International School took second with 171 points, while British International School earned third on 133.5. Greensprings School (116) and James Hope College (81) rounded out fourth and fifth.
Speaking about the meet, Babatunde Pearse—Vice Chairman and Games Captain for the Swimming Section at Ikoyi Club 1938—said the level of participation has grown beyond what was seen in earlier editions.
“We had more swimmers than previous editions and it is exciting to see the level of improvement in performance and timing,” Pearse said. “The future of swimming development looks very bright.”
Pearse also highlighted the role of the title sponsor, expressing appreciation for continued support. “We sincerely appreciate Zenith Bank for partnering with us and investing in the growth of young talents through this platform,” he added.
With the gala now entering its ninth year, the competition is jointly organised by Ikoyi Club 1938 and Zenith Bank.
