Gospel singer Tim Godfrey has released an emotional tribute to Portugal icon Cristiano Ronaldo, marking the end of the superstar’s international career.
Ronaldo’s time with the national team has now come to a close following Portugal’s elimination from the 2026 World Cup in the round of 16. Portugal were beaten 1-0 by Spain on Monday night, bringing the campaign to an end and leaving the captain without further World Cup matches.
On Instagram, Godfrey described Ronaldo as an “absolute legend,” even while acknowledging that he never lifted the World Cup trophy. The singer argued that the forward still “won the world” through the impact he has made over the years, citing his influence and steady consistency on and off the pitch.
Godfrey also praised Ronaldo for his daily commitment and presence, saying the footballer taught people around the globe about passion, discipline, dedication, resilience, endurance, focus, courage, and what it means to carry a winning mindset.
In the same message, he thanked Ronaldo for sharing his talent with the world and for being a source of blessing to supporters—particularly fans of Real Madrid, where Ronaldo’s legacy remains deeply rooted.
Godfrey concluded by urging fans to show love for what he called the real GOAT.
“As far as I am concerned, even without the cup, you won the world! You are an absolute legend! Thank you for showing up every day! Thank you for teaching the world passion! Thank you for your discipline, dedication, resilience, endurance, focus, courage, and winning mentality!
“Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. Thank you for being a blessing to us (Real Madrid). If you are not MESSI here, put a love emoji for the real GOAT,” he wrote.
