Raheem Sterling has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after a reported crash in which his car allegedly struck motorway barriers.<\/p>\n
The former England winger, who most recently played for Feyenoord in the Dutch Eredivisie, is said to have driven a Lamborghini into the barriers on the M3 in Hampshire on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
The 31-year-old has since been released on bail while further investigations are carried out.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Hampshire Police said: \u201cJust before 9am on Thursday, officers received reports that a Lamborghini had collided with barriers on the M3 southbound, near the Minley Interchange.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cNo other vehicles were involved and there were no reports of any injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe driver, a 31-year-old man from Berkshire, has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, driving dangerously, possession of a Class C drug, and failing to provide a specimen. He has been released on bail while our enquiries continue.\u201d<\/p>\n
A person close to Sterling confirmed the arrest, adding that there was \u201cno proof\u201d of drugs in his system.<\/p>\n
The source further claimed the player has been through \u201can extremely tough couple of years\u201d and said he had been made to \u201cfeel worthless\u201d and \u201cforgotten about\u201d.<\/p>\n
