The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has extended maintenance on the 330kV Jos\u2013Bauchi\u2013Gombe single-circuit power line to allow contractors to finish an optical ground wire (OPGW) installation along the corridor, with outages expected to run through late June 2026.<\/p>\n

Maintenance extension and scope<\/h2>\n
    \n
  1. TCN said the maintenance work, which began earlier this year, has been pushed back to continue until June 30, 2026.<\/li>\n
  2. The transmission operator linked the extension to the need for contractors to complete OPGW stringing on the 276-kilometre Jos\u2013Bauchi\u2013Gombe transmission line stretch.<\/li>\n
  3. TCN warned that the maintenance will disrupt electricity delivery to customers served by the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) and the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC).<\/li>\n
  4. The affected service areas include parts of Bauchi, Gombe, Damaturu, and Maiduguri.<\/li>\n
  5. For the duration of the maintenance window, TCN said customers should expect restricted power supply from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. from Thursdays through Sundays.<\/li>\n
  6. The company added that Yola, Jalingo, and surrounding communities are expected to remain without electricity during the outage periods.<\/li>\n
  7. TCN stated that electricity would be restored at the end of each day\u2019s maintenance activity.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    In its statement, TCN expressed regret for the disruption the work may cause, while stressing that efforts are being intensified to complete the project within the agreed timeframe.<\/p>\n

    Why the OPGW project matters<\/h2>\n

    TCN said finishing the OPGW installation and the associated maintenance is expected to improve grid monitoring, raise operational efficiency, and strengthen the reliability of power transmission across the affected regions.<\/p>\n
