First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Limited has named Bismarck Rewane as a Non-Executive Director and Chairman of its Board of Directors, after receiving approval from the Central Bank of Nigeria. The appointment adds a senior figure with deep experience in Nigeria\u2019s economic and financial policy landscape as the lender positions itself for its next stage of expansion.<\/p>\n
FCMB said Mr. Rewane brings more than four decades of experience spanning macroeconomic research, investment banking, and strategic management. He serves as Managing Director at Financial Derivatives Company Limited, which provides financial advisory services and economic research.<\/p>\n
Mr. Rewane is also described as a Fellow of the Nigerian Economic Society. His career includes leadership positions at International Merchant Bank Nigeria Limited and First National Bank of Chicago. He holds a degree in Economics from the University of Ibadan.<\/p>\n
In addition to his academic background, the bank highlighted his professional qualifications: he is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Bankers of England and Wales.<\/p>\n
FCMB noted that Mr. Rewane has served on the boards of well-known companies and multinational firms, including Guinness Nigeria Plc., British American Tobacco, Henkel Nigeria Limited, Top Feeds Nigeria Limited, and Africa Infrastructure Plus Partners. He was also a member of the Presidential Steering Committee tasked with addressing the resolution of the global economic crisis.<\/p>\n
The bank further pointed to executive education completed through major business schools, listing programs such as Oxford International Capital Markets, the Euromoney Institute of Finance, and IMD Lausanne in Switzerland.<\/p>\n
FCMB\u2019s Board welcomed Mr. Rewane, stating that his expertise in macroeconomics, corporate governance, and strategic management\u2014paired with the bank\u2019s strengthened capital base\u2014will reinforce leadership and support growth efforts. The lender said the goal is to drive the next phase of development while continuing to deliver value for stakeholders.<\/p>\n
