A new political youth initiative, Gen-Z in Politics, has been launched in Ogun State with the aim of narrowing what organisers describe as the gap between political awareness and political action among young Nigerians.<\/p>\n
The programme was established by Sunmola Adijat Olashile, a former aspirant for the Ado-Odo\/Ota State Constituency seat and a current consultant to the Dapo Abiodun administration in Ogun State.<\/p>\n
In a statement made available to reporters in Abeokuta, the state capital, the young politician said the initiative is designed to cultivate a fresh cohort of citizens who are politically informed, forward-looking and focused on leadership\u2014people she argues can influence governance and help shape the country\u2019s future.<\/p>\n
Olashile said Nigeria cannot build its next stage of development without the active involvement of young people, arguing that the emerging generation brings the innovation, imagination and practical understanding required to tackle present-day problems and contribute to national progress.<\/p>\n
She said the initiative\u2019s work will be centred on civic education, advocacy, mentorship, leadership training, mobilisation at the grassroots level and digital engagement, all intended to give young Nigerians the knowledge and skills they need to participate effectively in governance and in decisions affecting public policy.<\/p>\n
Olashile also framed the effort around a belief that governance should not be left only to established institutions and existing political structures, stressing instead that it must be shaped by a generation that grasps current realities while planning for future possibilities.<\/p>\n
According to the statement, the mission of Gen-Z in Politics is to educate, empower and mobilise young people to take part in governance and to influence political choices. Its vision, she added, is to help build a generation that is politically aware, leadership-oriented and socially responsible\u2014strengthening democracy and enabling young Nigerians to step into leadership roles with confidence.<\/p>\n
The founder said the organisation is guided by principles including political consciousness, youth empowerment, integrity, inclusiveness, civic responsibility, strategic leadership and digital innovation.<\/p>\n
Olashile described the initiative as more than a conventional political movement, saying it is developing into a community that will offer young Nigerians chances for learning, networking, leadership development, mentorship and collective action.<\/p>\n
Organisers said registration has now opened for prospective participants, including students, entrepreneurs, professionals, activists, creatives and other young people who share an interest in leadership, civic engagement and nation-building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
