Canada\u2019s status as a force in CONCACAF became evident during qualification for the 2022 World Cup, when it finished above Mexico and the United States to secure a place in Qatar.<\/p>\n
At the 2022 tournament in Doha, Canada\u2019s campaign ended in the group stage after defeats to Belgium, as well as losses to Croatia and Morocco, who later reached the semi-finals. Still, Canada made a major impression on the global stage in 2024 at the Copa America, reaching the semi-finals before being beaten by world champions Argentina.<\/p>\n
Canada\u2019s likely starting XI features players whose backgrounds reflect the country\u2019s immigrant communities. David, for example, was born in New York to Haitian parents before moving to Canada as a child.
