The outage, which followed the damage to the grid, has affected multiple areas including Modibbo Adama University, Girei, Hayin Gada and the Federal Housing Estate, along with other surrounding communities that are currently experiencing an extended interruption.<\/p>\n
In a statement released on Friday by the management responsible for operating the electricity network, officials said technical teams\u2014working alongside the contractor tasked with rebuilding\u2014have completed an assessment of the damaged infrastructure. Management added that reconstruction has now begun in earnest, with the aim of restoring electricity service to affected customers as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n
The statement described the 33kV Jambutu Feeder as a crucial element of the local distribution system, supplying power to residential areas as well as educational institutions and commercial activities across the broader region. Management said it recognises the inconvenience caused by the disruption and urged residents to remain patient while restoration is fast-tracked, adding that normal supply would be reinstated without further delay.<\/p>\n
Officials also called on the public to take an active role in protecting electricity infrastructure, warning that vandalism and unauthorised interference remain major risks to the reliability of power in the area. \u201cWe appeal for continued understanding and cooperation as we work to restore normal service,\u201d the statement said, noting that updates would be provided as repairs progress.<\/p>\n
