He added that while some players may not fully savour the occasion due to the stakes, he tries to enjoy it and feels fortunate to be in the position he is.<\/p>\n<p>He also suggested that simply producing a strong start is not enough to showcase his full ability. \u201cI know I have the quality but you still need to go out and show it on the biggest stage at a World Cup and I don\u2019t think a double in the first game is enough to show the full extent of my talent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>That message carried a clear edge toward Iraq, with Mbapp\u00e9 effectively warning that the tournament favourites are aiming to make another statement. That mark belongs to Germany\u2019s Miroslav Klose, who finished with 16 goals, and it has been equalled by Messi this year after the Argentina captain scored a hat-trick against Algeria on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the chase, Mbapp\u00e9 said he expects Messi to keep finding the net. \u201cI knew Leo Messi would score goals, he always does. He has the record, I am just behind and I will keep trying to score goals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mbapp\u00e9 added that closing the gap matters, but the bigger priority is collective success. \u201cThat will bring me closer to the record, but the most important thing is going as far as possible with my team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also indicated he enjoys being one of the headline names at a World Cup staged in the United States.
