A governorship candidate of the Boot Party made his case for the role on Friday, saying he was stepping forward with a sense of responsibility and a focus on delivering \u201cpurposeful leadership.\u201d He spoke during the unveiling of the party\u2019s candidates at the party secretariat in Arinlese, Abeokuta.<\/p>\n
The governorship nominee thanked party leadership for backing his bid and said he accepted the nomination as an obligation rather than an ambition. He said his decision to run was not rooted in a plan to attack prior administrations, but in an effort to find sustainable answers to the challenges facing Ogun State and Nigeria.<\/p>\n
He added that a development blueprint prepared by his team is meant to align with national development objectives and could be used as a template by other states if it is implemented successfully in Ogun. He said the concept had been in existence for several years, but that the moment had arrived to put it into practice.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, the candidate said he was accepting the responsibility of serving as the party\u2019s standard-bearer. He described his background as a more than 16-year commitment to identifying practical solutions to problems affecting society, and said he was grateful for the chance to begin putting the plans into action in Ogun State.<\/p>\n
He stressed that he was not entering the race to condemn others, but to confront issues he said directly affect residents. He argued that the party\u2019s approach is structured and meant to address the state\u2019s challenges in a concrete way.<\/p>\n
Earlier, the Ogun State Chairman of the Boot Party, Abiodun Akerele, said the party intends to put transparency, accountability, the rule of law and selfless service at the center of its approach if its candidates win office.<\/p>\n
Akerele said these values reflect the party\u2019s ideology and pointed to the party\u2019s motto: \u201cFiduciary, Obedience and Service.\u201d He also described the party as committed to careful management of public resources and strict adherence to constitutional provisions.<\/p>\n
He said the party differentiates itself by maintaining financial accountability, including meeting the Independent National Electoral Commission\u2019s requirement to submit annual financial reports listing income and expenditure.<\/p>\n
Akerele added that the Boot Party was founded to serve the people rather than pursue personal interests. He said the party\u2019s elected officials would put citizens\u2019 welfare above private or political considerations.<\/p>\n
