TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah made the announcement in a statement on Saturday, pointing to planned maintenance work at a key node in the national grid.<\/p>\n<p>The outage is expected to begin on Sunday and is linked to maintenance at the Kumbotos 330 kilovolt transmission substation. TCN said the work is intended to allow its contractor to continue an upgrade program focused on the 330kV bus II jumpers and to swap out existing 350mm\u00b2 conductors for 800mm\u00b2 lines.<\/p>\n<p>TCN said the conductor replacement and jumper upgrades are aimed at strengthening the transmission network and improving overall power reliability. As a result, customers supplied by the Kano Electricity Distribution Company, the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, and the Yola Electricity Distribution Company are likely to experience interruptions in electricity service during the maintenance window.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to supply curtailments across Kano, Katsina and Jigawa, TCN noted that Kano Electricity Distribution Company will be unable to take off power for onward distribution in those areas.
