The head of ITTF Africa, Wahid Oshodi, has urged governments, sponsors and businesses to increase their financial commitment to table tennis in order to speed up the sport\u2019s development across the continent.<\/p>\n
Oshodi delivered the message at a strategic gathering with International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) officials in London, arguing that Africa is rich in untapped ability and can challenge for top honours worldwide if it receives the right support.<\/p>\n
He stressed that long-term funding is vital for modernising venues and training facilities, as well as for building stronger pathways for athletes, coaches and grassroots participation. Oshodi also called on major corporate organisations to take on a more involved role as active partners in the sport\u2019s growth.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, he highlighted Egypt\u2019s continued strength on the international stage and recognised several standout African figures for their influence in raising the profile of table tennis. Among those praised were Quadri Aruna, Omar Assar, Dina Meshref and Hana Goda.<\/p>\n
Oshodi also outlined future initiatives aimed at creating a steady pipeline of high-level talent.
