Following in the glamorous footsteps of past Bond girls – think Grace Jones, Denise Richards and Halle Berry – Bérénice Marlohe is the latest Bond girl to star alongside the enigmatic Bond, James Bond!

The statuesque 33-year-old French beauty plays the character of femme fatale Severine in Skyfall, the latest, and rumoured to be the greatest, James Bond film.

At a press conference held in Joburg ahead of the SA premiere of the film, Berenice revealed what it was really like to work alongside Daniel Craig.

“Working with Daniel was wonderful. We had a wonderful connection from the first time we met. He has such a sense of humour and is a joy to work with. We had so much fun between takes. He’s a real clown.”

Talking about the steamy shower scene, the Omega Watches brand ambassador, laughed – saying it’s just part of the job! “You know, I have a love for art and sometimes you have to sacrifice yourself – being naked in the shower with James Bond is part of that!”

Berenice went on to explain why she thinks the Bond franchise is still so successful after 50 years and twenty three films. “For me, it’s the film’s ability to make people dream. They are completely timeless – the invisible cars, the villains, James… It’s a world between reality and fiction. People can identify and yet still escape reality.”

The new James Bond film Skyfall will officially be released on South African big screens on Friday 30 November 2012.
