So it seems the cold weather this weekend came with very little exciting news in the world of celebs. We guess everyone was tucked in under blankets at home and behaving for once.
Sophie Ndaba – back on the market
After all the drama that Sophie Ndaba and Bishop Keith Harrington have been through since their marriage in December – the couple have decided to call it quits. This might not come as a surprise to many, as the tabloids have been all over her marriage in these short-lived five months. We can only hope that Sophie’s future will be a bright one and that she’ll find the peace and happiness she deserves.
One person who didn’t feel the cold that badly is Highveld Stereo DJ Anele Mdoda (@anele), after she found herself in hot water with the Broadcasting Complaints Commission of South Africa (BCCSA). This after comments she made in April about Miss Universe Canada’s first-ever transgender contestant, Jenna Talackova.
Talackova was disqualified from Miss Universe Canada for not being a ‘natural-born’ female. But following her surgery, she challenged the rules of the pageant and won – eventually entering and making it as far as the top 12.
Anele’s comments include refering to Talackova as ‘it’, asking questions about how a man enters a women’s pageant and where Talackova hid their ‘male’ parts, before concluding with, “Well good luck and go balls to the wall’.” The BCCSA Tribunal is still out on this one and whether or not Ms Mdoda will have to make a public apology is still to be decided.
One person who is not going to have to be apologetic anytime soon is 8 times SAMA Award winner Zahara. The Eastern Cape Star recorded her first Live DVD this past weekend at Carnival City together with Leroy Bell. The DVD will debut her new song, ‘Hold On’ and feature the American X-Factor finalist’s new single ‘Brand New Day’. We can’t wait to see (and of course hear) the final product!
Staying with award winning ladies, the ever so gorgeous and talented Lebo Mathosa may not be with us anymore – but her legacy still lives on. Nearly six years after her fatal car accident, the diva’s real life story is about to be turned into a musical by the highly acclaimed Sello Maake ka-Ncube. If all goes well the Musical is set to hit the State Theatre in August of this year. This one will definitely be a must see, just like the story of Brenda Ma-Brrr Fassie.
Meanwhile, one of the sexiest stars alive is now sadly, offially off the market. Matthew McConaughey married his long term love Camila Alves in a special, intimate ceremony at their home in Austin Texas on Saturday. And Lady Gaga showed some real devotion to her little monsters on Sunday night when she finished a concert despite suffering a concussion. The star was accidentally hit on the head with a metal pole by one of the dancers during her final show in New Zealand.
