Cape Town was transformed into a party zone over the weekend when the fun-loving and fashion conscious descended on the Mother City for a weekend to remember at the 2013 J&B Met.
Held at the Kenilworth Racecourse, Mzansi’s most celebrated outdoor social event transformed The Mother City into a rainbow of colours and a fashion parade amongst the blistering heat and predictable Cape Town windy conditions.
Considered to be Cape Town’s premier social event, the J&B Met celebrated its 36th anniversary, with an array of zalebrities in attendance.

Zalebrities such as e.tv journalist Tanya Nefdt, Miss South Africa Marilyn Ramos, TV presenter Liezel van der Westhuizen and even Jennifer Su all dressed up in colourful and eye-catching outfits for this year’s theme: Made to Fly.
SA model Lee-Ann van der Walt turned heads in a sexy orange, lengthy Gavin Rajah number, while Selimathunzi hunk Lunga Tshabalala opted for a colour-blocking ensemble.
The Wild actor Ty Keogh was dressed by Tiger of Sweden by former Miss SA Nicole Flint wore a butterfly-inspired dressed by Cape Town designer, Victor Cook.
Dagbreek’s Kia Johnson and So You Think You Can Dance’s Didi Moses opted for lovely earthy colours for their outfits while Vuzu’s Lalla Hirayama dazzled in a sexy champagne-coloured frock with heels to die-for!
One of SA’s hottest new couples, Mr SA 2011 Adriaan van der Bergh and Miss SA 2011 Melinda Bam, looked elegant together. Melinda wore a silver, grey sexy mini while we loved Adriaan’s hint of colour with a turquoise pants and white shirt combo.
Hollywood-based actor Hakeem Kae Kazim (who is currently shooting a US TV series in town) wore a traditional African suit while the stand-out men’s dressed favourite was SA fashion designer Gert-Johan Coetzee, who rocked a black suit and orange bow tie (We loved the shoulder pads)
Other celebrities spotted included: Top Billing’s it folk: Bonang Matheba, Jeannie D and Janez Vermeiren, soccer couple Matthew and Sonia Booth, designer Gavin Rajah, Montana actress Ayanda Tini, So You Think You Can Dance’s Didi Moses, DJ Sbu, cricketer Herschelle Gibbs, as well as TV presenter Kuli Roberts to just name a few.
In what was regarded as one of the best J&B Met Races on a day when horse racing becomes one of the most unforgettable parties of the year! Let’s hope the stars all come out to play again next year – ready to dazzle with their fashion and party skills
