A money laundering charge against expelled ANC Youth League president Julius Malema has invigorated a clothing line inspired by him, the Cape Argus reported on Friday.

Obakeng Ramabodu, creator of the Juju clothing line, told the newspaper he had feared Malema’s isolation from the ANC would have seen his popularity dwindle but instead, had done a roaring trade when he gathered in Polokwane on Wednesday to listen to Malema’s speech.

He sold 300 shirts and 90 caps in two days.

“I thought it [the label] was going to collapse, but he’s back and so is the brand.”

Malema was granted R10,000 bail in the Polokwane Regional Court on Wednesday, where he appeared with his business partner and co-accused Selbie Manthatha.

The shirts retail for about R300.

According to the report, Ramabodu was planning to print more shirts. He said the design would change over time to mirror Malema’s success.
