Bonang Matheba has been shying away from the limelight since her case against former boyfriend Themba Nkosi, better known as DJ Euphonik.
The Sowetan reports this morning that Matheba, a popular media ‘it’ girl – and usually a frequent sight at parties and other social events, has not been appearing in the public eye other than for professional engagements.
She also did not attend yesterday’s court hearing, where Euphonik stands accused of assaulting her in her Hyde Park flat earlier this year, as well as other such incidents.
Adding to her woes are allegations by Euphonik that the presenter is engaging in destructive behaviour and the charges she laid against him have no basis. He accused her of things such as slitting her wrists in an attempt to catch his attention.
Since the start of the case, rumors of an abortion also arose after Drum Magazine got hold of medical files that might be Matheba’s. It was alleged that the baby resulted from Matheba cheating on Euphonik.
Matheba has lashed back, saying such rumors are attempts by her ex to damage her career. Euphonik is facing far more serious allegations, as laid out in court documents filed by Matheba’s lawyer:
“On that day (of the incident now before the court), he hit me on the body and slapped me in the face. On another occasion he slapped me across the face following an argument. He later apologised and we put the incident behind us. He assaulted me again in the same year. This time he punched me in the face while we were driving from his place to mine.”
